Bromley Scrap Cars
Looking to sell an unwanted, damaged or end-of-life car in Bromley? MJ Scrap Cars & Recovery buys and collects cars and vans across Bromley and the surrounding local area, with bank-transfer payment and help with the DVLA transfer process.
Sell Your Unwanted Car in Bromley
If you have a car in Bromley that is becoming too expensive to repair, maintain or keep, MJ Scrap Cars & Recovery can assess the vehicle, provide a quote and arrange collection.
It could be an MOT failure, a non-runner, an accident-damaged vehicle, an older car with an expensive mechanical fault or simply something you no longer need.
Tell us the registration, make, model, condition and full Bromley collection postcode. We can then assess the vehicle and discuss a current price.
Bromley combines a busy town centre around Bromley South, the High Street and Bromley North with residential areas extending towards Bromley Common, Bickley, Shortlands and Sundridge Park.
What Kind of Vehicle Can You Sell in Bromley?
A vehicle does not have to be completely beyond repair before it is worth asking for a quote.
MOT Failures
If the repairs needed for another MOT cost more than you want to spend, selling the car may make more sense.
Mechanical Problems
Engine, gearbox, clutch, electrical and other significant faults can quickly make an older vehicle expensive to keep.
Accident Damage
Body or accident damage does not automatically mean that your vehicle has no remaining value.
Non-Runners
The car does not need to start or drive. Tell us whether it rolls, steers and can be accessed.
Older Cars
Servicing, maintenance and repeated repair bills can eventually make selling more practical than keeping the vehicle.
Unwanted Vans
Vans and light commercial vehicles can also be assessed for purchase and collection.
How Much Is Your Car Worth?
There is no single fixed price that applies to every unwanted or scrap car in Bromley.
The make, model, age, overall condition, completeness and whether the vehicle still has realistic repair potential can all influence its value.
Vehicle and material markets also change over time, so a current assessment of the actual car is more useful than relying on an old headline figure.
Give us the registration, condition and Bromley collection postcode and we can discuss what the vehicle is currently worth.
Selling Your Car in Bromley
A few straightforward vehicle details are normally enough to get the process started.
Tell Us About the Vehicle
Give us the registration, make, model, vehicle condition and full collection postcode.
Agree the Quote
We assess the vehicle information and agree the purchase price before collection.
Arrange Collection
We agree the collection arrangements and check anything that could affect vehicle access.
Payment & Transfer
Payment is made by bank transfer and the relevant vehicle-transfer details can be dealt with at handover.
Bank Transfer & DVLA Transfer Support
Payment and vehicle-transfer details can be dealt with as part of the collection process.
Payment by Bank Transfer
Where a vehicle is being scrapped, payment is made electronically rather than with physical cash. MJ uses bank transfer for scrap vehicle payments.
The agreed amount can be confirmed before the vehicle changes hands.
V5C & DVLA
The relevant motor-trade transfer details on the V5C can be dealt with when the vehicle is collected, and Mick can help with the process.
The registered keeper should make sure DVLA has been notified that the vehicle has changed hands.
Remaining Vehicle Tax
Once DVLA records the transfer, vehicle tax is cancelled. Any full remaining months are normally refunded to the registered keeper.
What Happens to Your Vehicle?
Not every unwanted car follows exactly the same route.
Some vehicles have genuinely reached the end of their useful life, while others may still be suitable for repair and continued use.
Vehicles Being Completely Scrapped
Where a vehicle is being completely scrapped, it enters the authorised treatment and recycling route.
For a qualifying car or light van that is completely destroyed, the Authorised Treatment Facility handles the Certificate of Destruction.
Vehicles With Useful Life Remaining
Some unwanted cars may still be suitable for repair and return to use.
A vehicle that is repaired rather than completely destroyed does not receive a Certificate of Destruction. If the intended route matters to you, ask when arranging the sale.
Will You Receive a Certificate of Destruction?
A Certificate of Destruction applies when a qualifying car or light van is completely scrapped.
The Certificate is handled by the Authorised Treatment Facility, rather than being issued by MJ Scrap Cars & Recovery itself.
For a qualifying vehicle that is completely destroyed, it is normally issued within seven days.
If the vehicle is repaired and returned to use rather than destroyed, a Certificate of Destruction does not apply.
Scrap Car Collection Around Bromley
Bromley town centre is focused around the High Street, Market Square, Bromley South and Bromley North, with the A21 passing around the eastern and southern side of the centre.
Masons Hill, Kentish Way, Tweedy Road and London Road form important approaches through the town, while Bromley Common continues the A21 southwards.
The wider local area includes residential streets around Bickley, Shortlands, Sundridge Park and the roads between the town centre and Bromley Common.
This page is intended for Bromley town and its immediate surrounding area, rather than making a blanket claim for every town in the London Borough of Bromley.
Give us the full postcode and tell us exactly where the vehicle is parked, particularly if it does not start or access is restricted.
Local Collection Routes
The A21 provides the main north-south road corridor through Bromley, with several local routes connecting surrounding neighbourhoods to the town centre.
- A21 London Road
- A21 Tweedy Road
- A21 Kentish Way
- A21 Masons Hill
- A21 Bromley Common
- A222 Beckenham Lane
- B265 Hayes Lane
- B265 Homesdale Road
Town Centre, Residential Road or Driveway?
The collection postcode tells us which part of Bromley the vehicle is in, but its exact parking position can be just as important.
A car on a private driveway may be straightforward to reach, while a vehicle near the town centre or one of the main A21 approaches may involve parking, traffic or loading restrictions.
The A21 through Bromley forms part of the TfL red-route network, so vehicles parked close to London Road, Tweedy Road, Kentish Way, Masons Hill or Bromley Common need an appropriate collection position.
If the car does not start, cannot roll or steer, is blocked in, has accident damage or sits somewhere awkward to access, tell us when requesting the quote.
