Sidcup Scrap Cars
Looking to sell an unwanted, damaged or end-of-life car in Sidcup? MJ Scrap Cars & Recovery buys and collects cars and vans across Sidcup and the surrounding local area, with bank-transfer payment and help with the DVLA transfer process.
Sell Your Unwanted Car in Sidcup
If you have a vehicle in Sidcup that is becoming too expensive to repair, maintain or keep, MJ Scrap Cars & Recovery can assess it, provide a quote and arrange collection.
The car may have failed its MOT, stopped running, suffered accident damage or developed an engine, gearbox or electrical problem that no longer makes financial sense to repair.
Tell us the registration, make and model, condition and full Sidcup collection postcode. We can then assess the vehicle and discuss a current price.
Sidcup has two distinct local focuses around the High Street and the railway station, with residential neighbourhoods extending through Longlands, Lamorbey and towards Foots Cray.
What Kind of Vehicle Can You Sell in Sidcup?
A vehicle does not have to be completely beyond repair before it is worth asking for a quote.
MOT Failures
If the repairs required after an MOT failure cost more than you want to spend, selling the vehicle may make more sense.
Mechanical Problems
Engine, gearbox, clutch, electrical and other major faults can quickly make an older vehicle expensive to keep.
Accident Damage
Accident or body damage does not automatically mean that your vehicle has no remaining value.
Non-Runners
The vehicle does not need to start or drive. Tell us whether it rolls, steers and can be accessed.
Older Cars
Servicing, maintenance and repeated repair bills can eventually make selling more practical than keeping the car.
Unwanted Vans
Vans and light commercial vehicles can also be assessed for purchase and collection.
How Much Is Your Car Worth?
There is no single fixed price that applies to every unwanted or scrap car in Sidcup.
The make, model, age, overall condition, completeness and whether the vehicle still has realistic repair potential can all influence its value.
Vehicle and material markets also change, so a current assessment of the actual vehicle is more useful than relying on an old advertised figure.
Give us the registration, condition and Sidcup collection postcode and we can discuss what the vehicle is currently worth.
Selling Your Car in Sidcup
A few straightforward vehicle details are normally enough to get the process started.
Vehicle Details
Give us the registration, make, model, vehicle condition and full collection postcode.
Agree the Quote
We assess the vehicle information and agree the purchase price before collection.
Arrange Collection
We agree the collection arrangements and check anything that could affect vehicle access.
Payment & Transfer
Payment is made by bank transfer and the relevant vehicle-transfer details can be dealt with at handover.
Bank Transfer & DVLA Transfer Support
Payment and vehicle-transfer details can be dealt with as part of the collection process.
Payment by Bank Transfer
Where a vehicle is being scrapped, payment is made electronically rather than with physical cash. MJ uses bank transfer for scrap vehicle payments.
The agreed amount can be confirmed before the vehicle changes hands.
V5C & DVLA
The relevant motor-trade transfer details on the V5C can be dealt with when the vehicle is collected, and Mick can help with the process.
The registered keeper should make sure DVLA has been notified that the vehicle has changed hands.
Remaining Vehicle Tax
Once DVLA records the transfer, vehicle tax is cancelled. Any full remaining months are normally refunded to the registered keeper.
What Happens to Your Vehicle?
Not every unwanted vehicle follows exactly the same route.
Some cars have genuinely reached the end of their useful life, while others may still be suitable for repair and continued use.
Vehicles Being Completely Scrapped
Where a vehicle is being completely scrapped, it enters the authorised treatment and recycling route.
For a qualifying car or light van that is completely destroyed, the Authorised Treatment Facility handles the Certificate of Destruction.
Vehicles With Useful Life Remaining
Some unwanted vehicles may still be suitable for repair and return to use.
A vehicle that is repaired rather than completely destroyed does not receive a Certificate of Destruction. If the intended route matters to you, ask when arranging the sale.
Will You Receive a Certificate of Destruction?
A Certificate of Destruction applies when a qualifying car or light van is completely scrapped.
The Certificate is handled by the Authorised Treatment Facility, rather than being issued by MJ Scrap Cars & Recovery itself.
For a qualifying vehicle that is completely destroyed, it is normally issued within seven days.
If a vehicle is repaired and returned to use rather than destroyed, a Certificate of Destruction does not apply.

Tell Us Where the Vehicle Is Parked
The collection postcode tells us which part of Sidcup the vehicle is in, but the actual parking position can be just as important.
A car on an accessible driveway can be straightforward, while a non-runner close to Sidcup High Street, Station Road or the railway station area may involve different parking or access considerations.
Sidcup town centre and the station area both contain controlled parking, so the exact collection position can matter when arranging the vehicle pickup.
If the vehicle does not start, cannot roll or steer, is blocked by another vehicle, has accident damage or is somewhere awkward to access, tell us before the collection is booked.
